Woodlands Inn announces July 4 Festival

Partnership with non-profit groups to complement other Summerville patriotic events
Summerville, SC (April 21) – Woodlands Inn today announced plans for a July 4 Festival on its 42-acre grounds less than two miles from the center of town.
The arts-based event is being held in conjunction with Summerville DREAM (Downtown Restoration Enhancement and Management) and the Summerville Community Orchestra. It was created to complement the town’s weekend of festivities, which begin with Summerville DREAM’s July 3 celebration in downtown and culminates with the Town’s fireworks display on July 4 evening in Gahagan Park.
“We are thrilled to hold this festival, along with our partners,” said Woodlands General Manager Casey Lavin. “We hope Summerville residents will join us on our Southern estate for a day of fun, arts and patriotism. We are hoping this event, in conjunction with the others held over that weekend, will help draw locals and out-of-town guests. We want to create a true destination experience right here in Summerville.”
The event will begin at 4 p.m. on July 4 and end in time for guests to attend the Town’s fireworks display. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children between 4-12 years of age. Those under three will be admitted free of charge. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Summerville DREAM and the Summerville Community Orchestra. Tickets will be available on May 1 and can be purchased at Woodlands Inn.
There will be a variety of family oriented activities throughout the day, and Woodlands’ culinary team will serve up its own twist on American classics like pulled pork, fried chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers. Guests can enjoy the picnic-style atmosphere while relaxing on the Inn’s croquet lawn, while the day will be capped by a performance from the Summerville Community Orchestra.
The 18-room Woodlands Inn is a restored 1906 mansion set on 42 acres. It was purchased by Sheila C. Johnson in 2006, and is currently managed by her Salamander Hospitality company. Woodlands is one of only six properties in the United States to hold the AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star ratings for both lodging and dining.
