Middleburg, VA (January 20, 2015) – With Middleburg voted among Top 10 Most Romantic Destinations by Travel + Leisure, Salamander Resort & Spa is celebrating romance and relationships all-February long with special pricing and programming.
Guests can stay in luxurious romantic accommodations with the Night of Romance package and enjoy a $150 resort credit to use towards a romantic dinner in Harrimans, a relaxing treatment in the award-winning spa and cap the night off with a bottle of sparkling wine and truffles. Starting at $365 per room per night (based on double occupancy). A la carte romance add-ons include rose-petal turndown as well as other month-long romantic activities including:
Carriage Rides – Guests can snuggle up under a blanket with a hot beverage or champagne & chocolates while getting a tour of historic Middleburg in Salamander's horse-drawn carriage. The beauty of the mountains and charm of the town make for magical memories. Friday – Sunday; 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. One-hour ride, $400; half-hour ride, $275.
Equi-Spective for Two – This innovative personal discovery program gives couples an opportunity to uncover their authentic communication, leadership and relationship style by connecting with horses together. By successfully achieving goals working with the horse, participants will be given effective tools to carry into other aspects of their lives. (Riding or horse experience not necessary) Daily at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.; $152.50 per couple.
Mindfulness Sweetheart Ride – Before heading into the serenity of the woods and meadows, riders get to know their horse with their mate while Salamander’s team teaches basic instruction and evaluates skills. This allows horse and rider to have a more harmonious ride. (English & Western Styles available) Daily at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.; $152.50 per couple.
Couples Massage – Guests can enjoy any one of the 50-minute massage therapies in the spacious Couples’ Suite featuring a private, wrap-around stone patio and garden, outdoor whirlpool, pedestal tub, multi-jet shower, stunning fireplace and twin treatment tables – includes 30 minutes of “Suite Escape Time” prior to massage. Monday – Thursday, $320 per couple, Friday – Sunday, $355 per couple (excludes 20% service charge).
Couples Rasul – This unique, Hammam-inspired therapy is a sensual ritual of heat, steam and detoxification in a private ceramic temple bringing the body to a warm, illuminating glow. The 25-minute experience includes a six step process complete with an orange quince skin steam mist, a lemon coffee blossom olive stone scrub to tone and smooth and a jasmine rose rhassoul clay to detoxify, polish and soothe. The stimulating heat transports the minerals in the clay, forcing it to break down impurities in the skin. An aromatic steam is then released followed by a gentle rain shower to cleanse with the moroccan mint tea silt purifier before moisturizing with the tangerine fig butter crème to increase elasticity, heal and illuminate. Tree Top Zip Tour for Two – Couples can take a leap of faith and conquer the course with their mate by helping each other surpass fears and expand comfort zones. Tuesday – Sunday; tours at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; $198 per couple.
Romantic Nature Hikes – Take a guided brisk hike through the resort’s trails spanning over eight miles while learning about the area’s wildlife and history. Daily, 45 minutes; $50 per couple.
Romantic Cooking Classes – Learn how to make delicious delicacies and southern soul classics. 2 – 4 p.m.; February 7 – Chocolate Truffles with Pastry Chef Jason Reaves; February 21 – Southern Soul Cooking with Sous Chef James Lockley; February 28 – Doughnuts 101 with Chef Jason Reaves, $75 per person.
Chef’s Table in the Cooking Studio – Opening directly into the central kitchen, the Chef’s Table gives guests an opportunity to interact with the resort’s chefs while enjoying a customized farm-to-table meal prepared in front of them. Guests can provide a Chefs with a list of favorite ingredients and they’ll prepare a five-course menu paired with local Virginia wines. Dinners start at $165 per person and include wine pairings.
Vellum Valentine’s Tasting – Complimentary tastings of award-winning Vellum wines with aphrodisiac pairings will take place in the Cooking Studio on February 12. Meet Owner and Winemaker Jeff Mathy as he talks about what makes these hand-crafted blends so unique. 5 – 8 p.m.
Vellum Wine Dinner – Couples can celebrate culinary and wine delights from Napa Valley with Vellum Wine Craft. Guests can enjoy this interactive dining experience in the resort’s chef-inspired cooking studio with that special someone on Friday, February 13. Led by Owner and Winemaker Jeff Mathy and Salamander’s Chef de Cuisine Chris Edwards, the intimate dinner is designed to educate, inspire and ignite a romantic fire. 7 p.m., $150 per person (all-inclusive)
Brush with Greatness – Guests can celebrate Valentine's Day this year by learning something new and experiment using painting techniques under the guidance of artist Mary Jennings. Participants will try their hand at painting an original Jackson Paddock or a Vincent Van Whoa. 2 -4 p.m.; $65 per person.
Valentine’s Day Dinner at Harrimans – Couples can savor a five-course dinner with wine pairings in the romantic setting of Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill. Chef de Cuisine Chris Edwards has prepared a menu filled with sensual items for you to enjoy with a loved one. 6 p.m. & 9 p.m.; $150 per person or $300 per couple; $25 additional for wine per person.
