Woodlands Inn hosts The Rising Stars of Spain wine tasting and dinner on Tuesday, October 21

Summerville, SC – Spain has enjoyed great sporting success in 2008: Rafael Nadal won Wimbledon and became the world’s number one tennis player; Carlos Sastre won the Tour de France; and the country’s soccer team won the European Championship – its first major tournament for 44 years,

Now, dining guests at Woodlands Inn can find out why Spain’s wines also belong in the winner’s circle at “The Rising Stars of Spain” wine tasting and pairing dinner.

The event, part of the resort’s monthly “Wines of the World” series, takes place on Tuesday, October 21 and begins at 6:30 p.m. with a large cheese and charcuterie selection, followed by a 7:30 p.m. seating and four-course dinner. It will feature wines from the areas of Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat.

Spain’s geography and climate are favorable to viticulture, the art and science of growing grapes. The first evidence of serious winemaking in Spain began when Phoenician merchants brought the culture of vineyard cultivation and winemaking to Spain’s coastal regions.

The cost to attend is $88 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 843-308-2115. Overnight accommodations are available at special rates when combined with the “Wines of the World” experience. Visit http://www.woodlandsinn.com/ for more information and details.
