Former New Orleans Public Service Inc. (NOPSI) headquarters, which re-opened as a luxury hotel in July, celebrates the season with the Inaugural Lobby Lighting, pet-friendly activities and the ultimate New Years Eve party.

NEW ORLEANS – Nine decades after it was originally built to service the city’s needs, the historic headquarters of the former New Orleans Public Service Inc. (NOPSI) has recently re-opened as luxury NOPSI Hotel, New Orleans – a Salamander Hotel. Located in the vibrant Central Business District, on the corner of Baronne Street and Union Street, NOPSI Hotel invites guests and locals alike to celebrate the holidays.

Holiday Events and Traditions

From the Inaugural Lighting of the Lobby to Santa’s Pet Friendly Tea and vibrant holiday parties, NOPSI Hotel, New Orleans, will provide guests with a variety of festive experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Holiday delights include:

  • Sunday Supper

       December 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Encouraging all to spend the holidays surrounded by loved ones, Sunday Suppers imitates a family-style dinner at Public Service. The menu changes weekly – and is announced every Thursday – with seasonal dishes showcasing Public Service’s holiday spirit.

  • Inaugural Lobby Lighting and Holiday Kickoff

       December 1, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.; lighting event at 5:45 p.m.

Kick off the month of December with the Inaugural Lobby Lighting. Visit NOPSI’s winter wonderland and enjoy festive cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and carols performed by a local choir. The family-friendly event is set to become New Orleans’ newest holiday tradition.

  • Santa’s Pet-Friendly Tea

       December 9, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

NOPSI welcomes all members of the family, even furry ones, to Santa’s Tea party at the underCURRENT patio. Not a typical tea party, the event will include a cookie decoration area, tea and other great treats with a special appearance made by Santa and his reindeer.

  • Ugly Sweater Party

       December 19, 2017 from 5:00 – 11:00 p.m.

In honor of National Ugly Sweater Day, NOPSI’s rooftop bar – Above the Grid – is hosting a party featuring a runway competition for contestants to show off the best tacky sweats. The judges will select a winner who will be awarded with a surprise grand prize. Holiday cocktail specials will be served throughout the night.

  • Christmas Eve & New Years Eve NFL Tailgate

Have fun on the underCURRENT patio while waiting for the New Orleans Saints to play. The spacious lobby bar and outdoor patio is ideal for meeting up with friends before the game – with only a quick 10-minute walk from the Superdome, NOPSI is the go-to pre-game location. 

  • Christmas Eve Dinner

       December 24, 2017 begins at 5:30 p.m.

Before Midnight Mass, enjoy a special family dinner at Public Service for a festive meal including holiday favorites such as rotisserie roast beef, Louisiana Christmas classic and classic Buche de Noel.

  • Christmas Day Brunch

After a morning of tearing open gifts from Santa, Public Service invites guests for a Christmas Day Brunch. Whether fully dressed up or in holiday pajamas, all are welcome to continue the Christmas celebration.

  • New Year’s Eve Party

       December 31, 2017

Count down to 2018 with NOPSI Hotel’s inaugural New Year’s Eve Community Celebration. Dance the night away with live entertainment, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and champagne at midnight, along with a celebratory ball drop.

  • New Year’s Day College Football Tailgate

       Monday, January 1, 2018

Enjoy a Louisiana style tailgate including gumbo, jambalaya and couchon de lait with zydeco music at the underCURRENT Patio before the big National College Football Semi-Final Game taking place just blocks away in the Superdome.
