Hammock Beach Resort and Special Olympics Flagler County team up to present the Fourth Annual Invitational Golf Tournament benefiting the area’s special Olympians. Taking place Sunday, November 3, 2013 on Hammock Beach’s award-winning Ocean Course, the funds raised from the event will benefit Special Olympics Flagler County. Registration for the golf invitational begins on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. with the event beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Participants of the golf invitational will not only help Special Olympics Flagler County reach its goal of $25,000, but they will also enjoy a day of golf on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course, an award reception and prizes. Last year’s golf invitational raised more than $15,000 for Special Olympics Flagler County.
Activities exist for all ability levels. Anyone may participate if they meet the eligibility criteria of being an amateur athlete, eight years of age or older and having an intellectual disability or similar developmental disability. There is no upper age limit for participation.
Special Olympics Flagler County provides training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports. Nearly 300 children and adults with intellectual disabilities are given opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
The cost for a single player to participate is $100. Price includes greens fees, golf cart, two non-alcoholic beverages while on the course and attendance at the awards reception. Supporters may also mail donations to the attention of Special Olympics Flagler County fundraiser chairpersons, Marianne Murphy or Alise Tyson, at Hammock Beach Resort; 200 Ocean Crest Drive; Palm Coast, FL 32137. All funds raised through donations and golf invitational participation will solely benefit Special Olympics Flagler County.
