Transitions Championship Update - March 17

INNISBROOK, Fla. – March 17, 2010 – The preliminaries are over as the Transitions Championship gets ready for the first round of action Thursday on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook.

Four teams, headed by pros Sean O’Hair, Trevor Immelman, Jerry Kelly and Stephen Ames, tied at 11 under par 60 on a course that continues to draw raves.

Among those impressed in his first look was Ian Poulter, ranked sixth on the latest Official World Golf Ranking.  “I like the way it sets up,” he said. “There’s going to be some tricky tee shots out there, and you’re going to have to move the ball right-to-left and left-to-right, which is good, and it’s all about positional play.”

Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin added, “I love playing here at Transitions.  I think this is one of the best golf courses we play on TOUR.  It tests everything about your game.”

There was only one change in the field Wednesday as Mark Calcavecchia, the 2007 champion on the Copperhead, had to withdraw due to blisters that he developed last week in Puerto Rico.  His place in the field was assumed by Spencer Levin.

Thursday is also Healthy Lifestyles Day at the tournament.  Inside the Healthy Sight Village, guests can learn more about choices in healthy dining, and participate in fitness activities with the wellness experts from Innisbrook.  All activities are included with gate admission.

Join Transitions and partner OneSight and bring your gently used eyeglasses to collection boxes located at all spectator entrances as well as in the Kids Zone and the Live Your Vision Pavilion.   Eyeglasses will be used as part of global outreach initiatives to provide free eye exams and recycled eyewear to thousands in need.
