Transitions Championship Update - March 15

INNISBROOK, Fla. – March 15, 2010 – It was fitting that an Opening Day pitcher was on the winning team in the Shelton Quarles Celebrity Pro-Am, which was the opening golf event today for the 2010 Transitions Championship.
James Shields of the Tampa Bay Rays teamed with PGA TOUR® professional Brett Wetterich and amateurs Nomie Shock, Rod Patterson and Doug Bertz for a best ball score of 59.
That was one shot better than teams featuring Bucs Coach Raheem Morris and pro John Huston and hockey great Stan Mikita and pro Blake Adams.
A total of 21 teams played in today’s Shelton Quarles Celebrity Pro-Am Benefiting the IMPACT Foundation.

Local pro Bob Heintz was among the four qualifiers for the final spots in the field in Monday’s Open Qualifying at Fox Hollow Golf Club.
Heintz and Ty Harris made birdie on the first hole after shooting 70s to win a six-man playoff for the last two spots.  Ryan Armour and Ben Bates had already reached the field by shooting 68s.
